Its The Holiday Season!

Whats going on Raider Nation and NFL Fans?

With the looming holidays quickly approaching, I wanted to take a minute to direct you all to a new affiliate to Chaotic View that will benefit each and every one of you.

I know, many will think this is premature, but as true dedicated fans that I know you all are, if you are like I am during the holidays out at the last minute gathering last minute gifts, then this stop should be one on your list.

The site - NFL FANATICS!

Quality and performance are two of the biggest attributes I look for in new gear, and I wouldn't send you somewhere you wouldn't feel comfortable getting the same. From Reebok to Mitchell and Ness, these guys have it all.

In my closet right now, I have 8 jersies of my favorite past Raider greats. From Howie Long, March Allen, Jack Tatum and Bo Jackson. I am sure that many of you have just as many if not more, but there is so much more to it. I have a ton of hats, sweaters and shirts that also show my pride for the team I have followed for the majority of my life.
So, take a look or pass this link along and make sure the close ones in your family and circle of friends are aware of it so they know exactly what you want for Christmas or even your Birthday.

Or if youre like me, order something for yourself!

Week 6..... What To Expect

Vs.

Game time 1PM PST

Here is my Analysis of the Game, based strictly on stats and film I have seen:

Offense -

AP Photo

The Raiders have a 60 yard per game average advantage. Being that the Browns are currently 4th in the NFL in defending the pass, I look to see Darren McFadden running circles on these guys. Look for Darren to set the tempo and Michael Bush to pound the rock down their throats. I am looking for minimum of 150-175 yards on the ground, based on Cleveland's commitment to contain the run. We do have close to 100 yard advantage based on season averages, with the Raiders averaging 161.8 vs Cleveland's average of 85.8. Based on this, it could be a long day for the Browns. The Raiders need to stay committed to it though, regardless of the down and distance and the timing of the game. We have been getting away from our run more and more over the last 2 weeks, and it is critical that we re-establish our dominance.

AP Photo

Passing yards are pretty similar, with the Browns averaging 235 and the Raiders 219. I don't see the passing game being something that we will push this week, because you can tell that that aspect of our offense has not gotten completely on the same page as far as timing and Jason Campbell has overthrown a lot of the routes to Moore and Ford. Putting the ball in his hands also opens us up for interceptions and I believe that Campbell is better off just managing the game, rather then having it in his hands to win it for us.

Defense-

AP PHOTO

There are way too many similarities in this game with regards to defensive match ups. Its our big boys up front against the struggling line of the Browns, who have yet to establish any sense of continuity that will make all the difference. The Browns are banged up with Joe Haden missing the weeks practice sessions, and not likely to be involved in the game, and really they have lost one of their two games to a poor team in Indy and barely eeked out a win in Miami against the Fins, who are not exactly a contender at 1-4.

So what are the keys to this game outside of stats? Well let me break it down for you.

AP PHOTO

Tommy Kelly, Richard Seymour and John Henderson.

These three must keep Peyton Hillis to his season average of 50 yards. Bottom line. They must also run some disguise blitz packages against Colt McCoy in obvious passing downs. Last week, if you noticed, the Raiders ran more blitz packages and zone blitz schemes, getting burned on a few, but pressuring Schaub enough to force some throws that I am sure he wanted back. Schaub was obviously shaken in the final 2 quarters, as many of his throws ended up on the floor in front of the receivers, or hurried for fear of being sacked and minimal gains. This is obviously not the same defensive scheme that Al Davis would have preferred, but I think that now that he is no longer at the helm, Hue Jackson and Chuck Bresnehan can mix things up and start to run some unique looks that will make opposing teams think twice around staying pass happy. You should start to see our average of 299 yards in the air go down progressively over the next few weeks. Don't forget that Bresnehan established a good quality team in Cincinnati of late, and his defense was ranked in the low teens for quite some time. I see the same happening here with a little bit of freedom to call his game. The key to victory is getting off the field on 3rd down, keeping the Browns out of manageable third down situations where they have a 37% average for the season, and putting the hits on McCoy and Hillis.

This is a winnable game for us, and not so much of a let down scenario as many have been saying, but we have to stay aggressive and become the bully that Hue has been talking about, riding the wave of emotion of Al's passing.

Now is our time!

Seeing Is Believing - Offense

The yards are coming in chunks. The Oakland Raiders are finally doing what we have always expected they could, maintain possession of the ball on offense and gaining first downs. What do the stats mean? Let's take a deeper look.

Hue Jackson has implemented what I believe is the best formation packages we have seen since the Gruden era, where the Raiders had one of the top rated offenses in the league. After 7 weeks into the 2010 season, this team has mixed and matched players on the offensive line, at wide receiver, running back and everyone knows the quarterback situation. Even with all of that change, they have still managed to be ranked 14th overall in the league with 340 yards per game gained, 3rd in the NFL in rushing with 158.4 yards per game, 25th best in passing with 182 yards per game and 1274 yards gained this year and 5th overall with 25.6 points per game scored.

Well you ask, what difference does this all mean to us winning football games? I mean come on, San Diego Super Chokers have the number 1 offense in the league, yet their 2-5. Ahhhhh, the kicker, special teams.

No but really, the Raiders have one thing going for them that has put us in the win column 3 times this year so far, and its called Time of possession with the Raiders averaging 31:40 per game.

The long and short of it all is this, maintain possession, keep the defense off the field, that means the oppositions offense isn't on the field and guess what, they can't score points. Wow, what a concept that's equates to W's on the field.

Just Hang On To The Ball Baby!

Next Up, Seeing Is Believing - Defense.

Kyle Boller - A better choice?

3rd string Quarterback or starter under our offense?

Who is Kyle Boller and why isn't he under center today against Denver? Is he a better fit then Jason Campbell? I'm sure you all watched the same preseason games I did this year, and if my memory serves me right, Kyle moved the ball and made the throws. Well, lets look a bit closer and figure this out.

Kyle Boller was signed April 15, 2010 by the Raiders. Coming off a short stint of 1 year in St. Louis in 2009, Boller played 6 years (2003 -2008) for the Baltimore Ravens after being drafter 19th overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. Boller appeared in 2 of the Raiders' preseason games, going 12-of-21 for 148 yards and a touchdown against Dallas on Aug. 12 and 7-of-9 for 55 yards and a rushing score against Chicago.
The Raiders won both games.Sure it is preseason, and most likely against the 2nd and 3rd teamers, but football is football. Those 2's and 3's are on the field because they were better then the rest, which means they play ball.

Look at his career stats

So why not use him against the Broncos? My fear is that we start Jason Campbell and Cable tries to prove a point to Al Davis showing him that Campbell is not the next coming of Jim Plunkett, but maybe the next coming of Jawalrus, I mean Jamarcus Russell.

You remember this guy.

Look, you put an injured Quarterback out there against an injured , but experienced defense, there is even more of an opportunity for Campbell to injure himself further, either physically or mentally. Not to mention ruin the teams psyche even more. Please don't forget that Campbell was just 8-of-21 passing for 83 yards and two interceptions–good enough for passer rating of 10.7 against the Niners.

Look at some of these quotes from the Raiders players after the heartbreaking loss to San Francisco:

“After that San Diego win, it was like, let’s get this ball rolling, let’s get the momentum going. And then to lose like this . . . I mean, we were in the game the whole time . . . it really hurts,’’ Asomugha said.

“The game really comes down to opportunity. We had a ton of opportunity, offensively to score,” head coach Tom Cable said. “We did not score, we’re not very good in the red zone. We let them hang around. We really played decent run defense and then gave up two runs just like that. I’m very disappointed, too many opportunities to win a game and we didn’t get it done.”

“I don’t know. I’ve got to see the film,’’ Murphy said. “The game was just going so fast, I don’t really know what was going on. I felt I was getting open against their coverages.’’

“There goes the story of the Raiders,’’ said Kelly, who acknowledged he had a shot at the tackle. “Play good, play good . . . Boom. There goes something.’’

Thank you Tommy. My sentiments exactly. This is the last damn thing we need to hear from players on the team. Makes it seem as if nothing has changed.

Strength and Conditioning

One of the key factors in any athletes capabilities to perform at a high professional level...........strength and conditioning. From off season workouts, to nutrition, to in season workouts, if you're not strong, eating healthy and conditioned properly, you're doomed to fail with both injuries and long recovery times.

I'd like to introduce to you, your Oakland Raiders Strength and Conditioning coach, Brad Roll.

Mr. Roll comes with an extensive coaching background, dating back to 1981-86, where Roll served as the first full-time strength and conditioning coach at the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
His professional stints :
Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the '93-'96 ( 5-11, 6-10, 7-9 )
Miami Dolphins from '96-'03 ( 8-8, 9-7, 10-6, 9-7, 11-5, 11-5, 9-7, 10-6 )
Buffalo Bills from '03-06 ( 6-10, 9-7, 5-11 )
St. Louis Rams from '06-'07 ( 8-8, 3-13 )
before joining the Raiders in 2008, having shown that his experience with athletes in the professional ranks should be as good as it gets. I mean come on, 17 years now, this guy should make the players as prepared as they can get, right?

Well, lets look at our injuries over the last 2.5 years with Mr. Roll as our Strength and Conditioning coach........

2008

JaMarcus Russell - knee injury during Oakland's 17-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Darren McFadden - turf toe injury that ruined his rookie season that seemed so promising after a 164-yard rushing performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in his second NFL game.
Derrick Burgess - triceps injury that costed the Raiders their biggest pass-rushing threat and the leader of their defensive line.
Justin Fargas - sidelined by a noncontact injury from a simple pass route and a strained groin, sustained in a victory over Kansas City.
Kwame Harris - knee injury.
Javon Walker - hamstring.
Chaz Schilens - Everything

Do you see a trend? I see a lot of fatigued muscles, poor hydration and over weight football players. Where is the accountability Mr. Roll? Tom Cable?
Looks like the Raiders may need to take a look at the core of our issues and start making some changes to what we do, how we eat and how we prepare. It just may get us "over the hump" as Tom Cable puts it.

This team is the team of all teams. Sports Empires were built on the Raider way. Quick, fast talented athletes poised to infuse youth and vigor into the new year along with the witty and savvy veterans, back to prove they still have what it takes for another year.

Ill begin my rants on our current administration. You have the hard nosed Tom Cable at the helm. Tough, gritty, offensive line coach used to duking it out in the trenches. His passion for the game is unquestioned, his ability to adjust to game tempo on the fly, immaculate! His ability to lead........Questionable. As of week 6 of the 2010 NFL Season, his record as a Professional NFL Head Coach, a whopping 10-21. The 2nd longest tenured coach since "Chucky", following the likes of Bill "The Dumbest Team" Callahan, Norv "Choker" Turner, Art "Bed in Breakfast" Shell, , and we all know Lane "Lance" Kiffin. Tom Cable, our leader, Al's punching bag.

Tom has made comments week in and week out such as, "We just didn't execute.", "Where are we at? I think we’re about three-quarters of the way there. We’re not there yet, but we’re getting there.""We have the same feeling similar to what we had after the Arizona game, where you felt like you did a lot of things to win a game and didn’t do enough to get it over the hump to do it." "For us, it was just a play away, a play away, a play away. And you’re trying to get to the right play, and your team in position for the right play. But that’s not good enough.". Well damn it Tom, when are we going to execute? When are we going to get the play in? When are we going to get the quarterbacks to play at the level they are paid for? When are we going to get over the hump?

Personally, I am tired of sitting back waiting for the team to turn the corner. I am tired of getting my stomach in knots every Sunday hoping we have it in us to drive down the field in the 4th quarter and pull off a miracle. I want DOMINATION! I want a comfortable lead! I want to actually HIT SOMEONE IN THE MOUTH the entire game and make them fear playing this team. I want the Raiders to be the team people hate because we Dominate and Win!

Tom you're the head coach. You're responsible for the Offense, Defense and Special Teams. All parts and pieces. Every player out of position. Every "Missed Opportunity". Players not being conditioned for the rigors of the year. It all falls on your shoulders Tom. My opinion of this current team..........they play as they are coached, soft!
