Post Game Recap.... Preseason Cowboys Vs. Raiders

Great to be back. First and foremost. It was a long offseason and I finished the long list of Sunday honey-do's......

So I went back and watched the tape after it was all said and done last night and I have some particular topics I would love to touch on.

Offense-

1. Mc Fadden is what he is. A Beast! I know we only showed a few things we would be doing (Vanilla Offense), but I was not really paying attention to the play calling
   or scheme. I watched the intangibles. Mc Fadden displayed the burst of speed through the hole, the patience to allow his gaps to open and the ability to break tackles. Overall if this guy stays healthy, we could have the NFL's leading rusher in our backfield.
2. Palmer is still learning the offense. There were a few pass attempts that I think he held the ball for too long as he went through his progressions, but overall, he got first downs and had to deal with an atrocious performance of Jacoby Ford.
3. I'm not going to harp on it too much but Jacoby Ford was a drive killer last night. I think he just had a bad game. He broke his route in the deep interception play, he got alligator arms on two plays, one slant that could have been a nice gain and gotten us beyond the 50 in our second possession and again on an in route that would have given us a first down in our last First Team possession. He also muffed a punt and didn't display the confidence of yester year. I hope this is just because it is the preseason and not because he is getting soft on us.
4. Terrell Pryor is not ready for the NFL. He looked like a deer in the headlights last night. We made some first downs, but his balls were thrown like a QB who was trying to make sure he didn't make any mistakes, rather then the Terrell Pryor I remember at Ohio State with the cannon arm. I would be surprised if he made the team. If so, he needs to be in the Wild Cat formation or as a tight end.

Defense

1. I was not surprised at our performance. As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, the Defense needed to establish dominance and that they did. I was surprised that Seymour was not on the field, but that's ok. He has nothing else to prove in the preseason. That line though. Tremendous. We held Tony Romo  to 3 for 6 and 30 yards and 1 sack with one narrowly being missed by Lamar Houston.. It was refreshing to get it done on the line.
2. D-Backs need more work. Bartell allowed a long pass completion and on a few zone plays, the tight end came out into the flat and was able to convert for first downs. Still preseason, but its the little things that count. Get off the field on 3rd downs!

One last stat......... only 5 penalties for 37 yards compared to 12 for 97 on the Cowboys. I would say that is a victory in itself!

Overall, not bad for the first game.  Still much to do and only a few weeks to work the bugs out, but I think with discipline and a good work ethic, this team can be a playoff contender.

A New Era.......... The Autumn Wind

I can hear it now. Deep in the Black Hole, the sound resonates through my head gear, vibrates my chest and stings my eardrums. It lingers like a good vintage wine for hours after. The call of Victory!

Back in February, I thought time stood still. Seconds turned into minutes. Minutes to hours and hours to days. It was like a bad case of separation anxiety. The team went their way and the fan base was left with so many questions and no answers.

Well, the waiting is over. The 2013 season is upon us and a new desire and hunger for the pinnacle of achievement hangs in the balance. Its time for answers. But those answers come at some expense that we knew was inevitable. The Autumn Wind blew across the surface of our bow. Change was upon us. 

It all started with the hiring of Reggie McKenzie. It was obvious from the start in his introduction with Mark Davis that it was going to be his direction. A new Era of Raiders football. With the subsequent hiring of Dennis Allen, a defensive minded coach and the first since John Madden, the Raiders began to remove themselves from the Al Davis era and tonight into the Reggie McKenzie era of 21st Century NFL Football.

I know that its hard to place expectations on the team this early, but its the typical routine we go through as fans. Win the Super Bowl. My fears are that we may have taken 2 steps back to make the leap after this year. All of that can change with a great showing tonight against the Cowboys. Which Raiders team will show up? The New or the Old?

Keys to tell........................

Offense

1. Small steps. We were pretty good last year and with a full off season under Carson Palmer's belt, I am hooping that the players can get going together on the common path.I am looking for a touch down on our opening possession. No 3 and out.
2. Maturation of our Wide Receivers. I hope that they can continue on the path they have been going, Yards after the catch. With the west coast offense now being implemented, I can almost assure you that there will be more 5-10 yard routes and more inclusion of the tight end to move the ball and focus more on the first down rather then the home run ball.
3. Stability at Running back. We need to stay healthy and build a good running game. We are going back to the Zone Blocking Scheme and establishment of our dominance will start today on the offensive line and backfield. 
4. 65%-35% mix Run/Pass. Although Carson Palmer is a proven vet, I think he should only be called on when it comes to putting the final dagger through out opponents heart. We have to be balanced at first to get our opponent off guard and then run them into the ground.

Defense

1. D-Line dominance. We need to establish ourselves as a run stuffing defensive team. We have some new vets in the backfield with returning rookies, but it all starts with the D-Line protecting us from the runs. In addition to this, they have to make quick pursuits to the QB. Nothing new here.
2. Line backer pursuit. Has to be there. These guys need to be all over the ball and filling their gaps. The hardest part to this is to be patient and trust the guys in front of you to do their jobs. Ray Lewis is not who he is because he alone is great. He has a trust for the down 4 that allows him to be patient and flow with the play and attack the ball.
3. Minimize penalties. Our biggest offender, Stanford Routt, is gone. Thank the Lord. He stunk it up last year with 17 penalties alone. This group needs to play disciplined football and get off the field on 3rd down. No exceptions. 

It should be interesting to usher in this new era of thinking. I am excited to see the growth of Dennis Allen from his days in Denver into something we have needed for a long time. A leader of the team. Only time will tell and tonight our journey begins.

Why You Gotta Bring Up Old Sh*t?

The Pittsburgh Steelers' rivalry with the Raiders was legendary during the 1970s, which unfortunately for me was before my time. The Steelers knocked the Raiders out of the playoffs in three of four consecutive seasons in the early 1970s, the first of them being the Immaculate Reception game. This should really piss you off........

That is until the Raiders finally beat the Steelers in the 1976 AFC Championship and went on to win Super Bowl XI.

During the 1975 AFC Championship game, Raiders strong safety George Atkinson delivered a hit on Pittsburgh wide receiver Lynn Swann that gave him a concussion.When the two teams met in the 1976 season opener, Atkinson hit Swann again and gave him another concussion. After the second incident, Steelers head coach Chuck Noll referred to Atkinson as part of the "criminal element" in the NFL. Atkinson subsequently filed a $2 million defamation lawsuit against Noll and the Steelers, which he lost.

But that being the past, we now live in a different era of NFL Football. Last year, as most of you remember, the Raiders beat these girls 27-24 in Pittsburgh on December 6, 2009. Most will remember the fight in the team to drive down the field and win with 9 seconds remaining. Some will remember Mike Tomlin's comment "We are going to unleash hell." which was his battle cry after the Steelers lost three straight games to the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens. Again, in the past but relevant.

Here is the recent warning from the Squeelers QB to our boy Nnamdi...."I would send this warning to him," Roethlisberger said Wednesday. "Be careful with our field, because it's terrible." So whats your point?

If I was you Mr. Roethlisberger........ I would be more concerned with your offensive line protecting your ass from Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly, then your field and Nnamdi. Turns out, its easier for the field crew to scrape your sorry ass off of the turf when its nice and soft, so we prefer it that way......

This is our opportunity to win our 4th straight, a feat not yet accomplished since 2002. Did you know that this is the first meeting between these two teams since 1995 with both having winning records? You think there is just a little riding on this game?

Well, just like all of the National Media,  Jamie Dukes of the NFL Network says we do not have a good enough quarterback to win the game. Even Rod Woodson says that we will not win the game because we can not run the ball against this Steeler Defense, who has not allowed a 100 Yard rusher in the last 43 games. Well, last I checked we have played some pretty damn good defenses this year and when Darren McFadden is in the game, I think we put up a Hundy-Burger on em. Bring on this Steeler Defense and Troy Palamalu. Meet Mr. Bush, McFadden and oh yeah on the goalline, that would be Mr. Lamar Houston running that fullback dive.

I am geeked to renew this supposed rivalry. Although after we beat these chumps, I will have to say the rivalry goes away because we would have beat them 2 straight. Turns out for it to be a rivalry, the other team needs to show up and win every now and then.

The Return

Ever get that feeling after a vacation and some long needed rest and relaxation of, man this sucks to be back? For most, this happens because they have to go back to work or somewhere they are not comfortable being. For others, if they enjoy where they are going and used this as a time to get healthy and come back with a new sense of vigor, we may just see the change and fourth gear kick into this team and propel us into the playoffs.

Do you see that smile on his face? Does that look say to you that he is excited about the remainder of the year or does it say to you that he has to get ready to go back to work this next week to prepare for the offseason and possibly another year with the Raiders.

Well, coming off this bye week, I think the enthusiasm is peaking for me as much as I know it is for the team. I'm sure they are coming back today with smiles and new stories to share, as well as a new sense of enthusiasm that they have the remainder of the season to finish. Keep in mind though, they are riding a 3 game win streak that has propelled them back to a level of accomplishment and accountability, and I truly believe a better sense of who they are as a team. Becoming a playoff contender.

Our upcoming challenge this week is the Pittsburgh Steelers. After the game last night, which I am sure a majority of the players caught, it is easy to see that they had better show up with their "A" game this Sunday. This is going to be I am going to punch you in the mouth game against an elite team in the NFL.

So what are the keys to victory that the Cheatriots taught us last night?

1. Throw to the Tight End!

Rob Gronkowski hauled in 5 receptions for 72 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's win.

2. Throw the ball period.

Tom Brady accounted for four touchdowns and went 30-43 for 350 yards in the win.The Steelers have given up 11 passing touchdowns this season.

3. Protect against the pass.

 Ben Roethlisberger finished 30-49 for 387 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Over 300 of Roethlisberger’s 387 yards came in the second half and so did all three of his touchdowns.

Steelers’ wide receiver Mike Wallace also had a big day with eight catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

4. Attack their weaknesses and injured positions.

Pittsburgh finished the game on Sunday without their left tackle (Max Starks), left guard (Chris Kemoeatu), top wide receiver (Hines Ward), starting defensive ends (Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel) and top inside linebacker (Lawrence Timmons). Starks is done for the season by the way.

Just In case you needed a refresher on last year......

Here is a stat we need to be aware of...The Raiders have not won after the bye week since the 2002 season when they beat the Tennessee Titans 52-25. Since then we have lost 7 straight.

2003 13-23 @ the 1-6 Detroit Lions

2004 17-23 to the 6-3 San Diego Chargers

2005 14-27 to the 2-3 San Diego Chargers

2006 21-24 to the 0-3 Cleveland Browns

2007 14-28 @ the 2-3 San Diego Chargers

2009 10-16 to the 1-7 Kansas City Chiefs

After looking at these stats, what was the most common denominator between each of these seasons? We had nothing to play for. Times are different this year, as you can see from the quotes below:

"It is exciting as a coach to know that you're going to get a tight end back and a cornerback back," Raiders head coach Tom Cable said, "and a defensive tackle that is going to help us where we're already improving in the run-defense area. But I think it will help Tommy (Kelly) and Richard (Seymour) in terms of taking a few snaps off. They're both playing very well, but they're both playing a lot."

"I feel pretty beat-up," safety Mike Mitchell said. "So it's good that we have some days off to rest and recover, and that's going to be big for us. Because now, people are going to see a 100 percent healthy Raider team, not a beat-up team that we had out there (in the last game)."

Do you feel the energy? Do you feel the difference? I do! Its gone from more of a pessimistic viewpoint of what we should be doing and what we do wrong, to what we are doing right and how we can continue to get better.

The tides are turning and we are on the right path.

This Team Believes!

Big wins don't come often in this league for the Raiders, as most times when we have been down over the past 7 years, we stay down and roll over as who ever the competition steam rolls us at the finish line. For longer then I care to remember, this has been the case. Well ladies and gentlemen, those days are long gone and we are riding the success of a 3 game winning streak, and it looks like those days of old have finally seen our backside and given us a kiss on our arse as we go on our way.

With 2 dominating statistical victories over the previous 2 weeks, an unstoppable Raiders offense, piling up 1,053 yards with ease and our defense allowing just 405 yards and 17 points, we started to take on the image of an immovable force that was to be reckoned with. Well, I think they lived up to the hype this week and showed that there are things in the works here that we as fans can't even really see. We did not back down to the over rated Chiefs when they came pounding on our doorstep right before the half. We didn't cower when the ref's made call after call that went against us when we all know if it was some other team, the call would have went their way. We did not back down from the league who said they wouldn't buy into the hype, like they did all week on the NFL Network in their show the Playbook, BSPN's Countdown, and all of the other Media Outlets who refuse to pay attention because of their hate for the Raiders.

Believe it now SUCKERS!!

Tom Cables message all year has been to cut it loose. Let it go and have fun. Well, that seems to be working and the backyard ball the Raiders are playing is breeding feelings of confidence this team has not had in years. And remember, this is a different energy because this team is now one of the youngest in the league, versus the 2002 team that was the oldest of that time. Look at these quotes from Tom Cable....

“We can’t sit around here and feel like, gosh, what a great effort, this and that, or execution and all that. It was a tremendous but it’s just not very clean. What did happen today, a new building block showed up today. And that is, no matter what, no matter how long it takes, we just keep grinding and find a way. And that’s what we did. The thing I’m so, so pleased about was to see us on the sideline and to just feel it, like nobody was backing down, nobody was giving in, and we were just going to keep finding a way. I kept seeing the offensive guys pull for the defensive guys, and vice versa. And it really mattered down there at the end.”

Tell me this isn't the mindset of a humble coach who has his hand on the true vibe of the players on the field. For a coach to notice that we are under performing, and yet still see that stuff going on is huge and shows that the pulse of the team is Tom Cable.

“A new building block showed up today,” Oakland coach Tom Cable said. “And that is, no matter what, no matter how long it takes, we just keep grinding and find a way. And that’s what we did. The thing I’m so, so pleased about was to see us on the sideline and to just feel it, like nobody was backing down, nobody was giving in, and we were just going to keep finding a way.”

The fighting ways of the Raiders are back. A scrappy bunch of misfits, who no one believes in from the outside world, but we will punch you in the face and knock you on your ass until you recognize us. Be ready world, we are not done yet.

Who means more to the Raider Nation, then this 53 man roster and the boys on the practice squad? Their effort is evident. Their will to win is immaculate. Their no guts no glory approach is inspiring and their perception of each other is forming a cohesion, that like the wedge on a kickoff return, can prove to be impenetrable.

“You see it. I don’t know what it was like a few years ago, but I can tell you last year we don’t win this game,” said Mitchell. " I can say that with 100 percent assurance. You can see the change. Guys, when we got down (last year), it was almost like, Here we go. It’s over, but this year, we don’t care. We’re going to play you until there’s no time on the clock. We’re going to play you, and we’re going to fight you as hard as we can, and that’s what coach Cable has us believing, that’s what we’re doing, and that’s the team we are.”

Trust is a big thing in this league. Trusting the man next to you is doing their job breeds confidence that you don't have to do too much. That is leading to better execution on both offense and defense as guys don't over pursue to make up the negligence of their teammate.

"I commend our defense, because they play lights out night in and night out. One thing that we had to do was try and match their intensity, match their confidence, and match their execution."

Wow. So competition from the opposite side of the ball is taking shape. Remember last year when Jamarcus would go out and flop the game on the offensive side of the ball, and the entire defense was saying, "We just have to carry the team and allow the offense the chance to get the ball again and hope they score some points" Interesting their competing with one another during the game, which shows they are having fun. So important.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is coming from a Superbowl Champion of the current NFL Era. I think his words are quite evident that the team is moving in the right direction and progressing the way that the New England Cheatriots did when they started to believe and went on their recent run of superior play. They should have still lost the Tuck Rule game, so no props to them.

Final in Oakland, Chieft @ Raiders........ First Place Belongs To......... THE RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!

Defense

Opening up the 4^th quarter with a 1^st and 10, the Chiefs throw incomplete to Jamal Charles. On 2^nd down, the Chiefs tried a screen, but the Raiders diagnosed it perfectly. 3^rd down, the Raiders show a nickel set and force a delay of game penalty. After the penalty,  the Raiders hold the Chiefs on a 3^rd and 15 forcing the Chiefs to punt. Great secondary coverage operating in zone held them in place and gives the Raiders a first down on the 20 yard line following a touchback.

The ensuing kickoff gets the Chiefs going at the 45 yard line, that was until a penalty flag on the 29 yard line for a low block by Copper, which put the Chiefs back to the 15 yard line and into the teeth of the black hole!

First down for no gain with a nice tackle by Seymour on Thomas Jones. 2^nd down had a deep ball going to Dwayne Bowe but way overshot. Routt argued with the officials claiming offensive pass interference. 3^rd down and the ball sails out of the field of play and the Chiefs turn it over on downs. Raiders are going to get great field position! After another bulls*it call for a fumble on the return the Chiefs get the ball back on the 31 yard line. No challenge available to the Raiders, so we lose the ball. Horses*it! What the hell is Nick Miller doing trying to gain extra yards. Go down and take what you got and leave it at that. What a horrendous play!!!

A quick pass to the TE and a rush, gets the Chiefs a first down. The defense digs in deep and stops the Chiefs to a 2^nd and 7. Michael Huff gets into the backfield on the run for 2^nd down and gets a 4 yard loss. Great play. 3^rd and 11 and the Raiders give up a touchdown to Dwayne Bowe on a deep slant giving the Chiefs a 20-17 lead with 6 minutes to go in the 4^th.

After the TD, the Chiefs get the ball at the 45. Knowing they are going to try to control the clock, the run game gets going with a 7 yard pickup on 1^st down. 2^nd down Raiders defense allows Thomas Jones to gain 4 for the first down. Something needs to happen here, or we will lose this game. Timeout by Cassel. First and 10 and its getting ugly after a 5 yard gain. A holding call gets the Chiefs a 1^st and 20. Jamal Charles gets 13 on that 1^st down, with the Raiders secondary looking confused. Time out Raiders. Great play by Seymour on 2^nd down who made a tackle for a 6 yard loss on Jamal Charles. 3^rd and 12 and the Raiders hold for a punt with a missed pass by Bowe.

This is for the Marbles now Offense.   This is what you dream about. The ball with 2:06 to go on the 25 yard line. Lets see what we have.

Offense

Our first drive of the fourth quarter starts with McFadden getting 11 with some great moves to get would be tacklers to miss. The very next play, they go to McFadden on the left for another 7 yards and gets him closer to the Century mark. On 2^nd down, McFadden to the 42 yard line and keeps the clock moving and picks up the first down. Grinding it out between the tackles is playing huge right now. 1^st and 10 and a possible screen pass to Marcel Reese went into the ground. Smart decision by Campbell who did not have any chance to make any positive yards on that play. 2^nd and 10 and Campbell hits Johnnie Lee Higgins for 12 yards and a first down. What a dart on the numbers and a great catch for the first. Next play and Michael Bush gets 1 yard, keeping the clock running. The offensive line is starting to move the d line back on their heels. 2^nd down, the ball goes through Jacoby Ford’s hands. Would have been a great play, but Ford made his break and the ball was already there. On third and 8, Campbell improvises and got the ball down to Jacoby Ford on the 7 yard line. What a catch by Ford while falling down and coming back to the under thrown ball all while fighting off a defender. He should have done that earlier in the gamer, but when it counts he comes up big. Great play Ford, my player of the game so far!!!

1^st and goal, Darren McFadden gets 2 to the 5. The offense lines up for 2^nd and goal and Campbell just misses DHB with the ball skipping off of his hands in the end zone. 3^rd down and goal, and what looked to be a pass interference on Johnnie Lee Higgins right at the end zone line forces a field goal attempt. Sea Bass puts in the 23 yard try and the Raiders go up 17-13.

On the third possession, after a 16 yard return, the Raiders get the ball moving inside the 20 yard line. First down for 12 to Jacoby Ford on the right side line. Aggressive play calling by Hue Jackson. The next play as a pump and go to Marcel Reese, gets a pass interference call which is negated by a holding call by Robert Gallery. That would have been a 30 yard pickup. 1^st down and McFadden gets tackled for a 1 yard loss. 2^nd and 11 and Campbell just missed DHB who was wide open and could have gone up field for an  easy 40 yards. 3^rd down and a sack with a loss of 5. Punt again… Chiefs get the ball on the 45 yard line.

Starting on the 25, the ball goes to McFadden for a loss of a yard and the 2 minute warning. The play calling is not as aggressive with the TE completely missing down the middle of the field. The Chiefs are going to give it to us, exploit it. We have Sea Bass who can make a 61 yarder. Hit the middle of the field. There is plenty of time to go. I can’t believe we are checking down. 2^nd and 11 and Campbell throws way too high for DHB, who was wide open on the play. Jason Campbell just isn’t making the throws. 3^rd and 11 and Johnnie Lee Higgins gets 12. No time outs lets go! 1^st down to Myers and he gets 5 inbounds. Clock is ticking and the Raiders get another quick out to Myers for 2 who got out of bounds. 3^rd and 3 from the 43, with 101 to go. Myers on the 12 yard out and gets a holding call and an automatic first down. Raiders on the 48. 1^st and 10 and a draw and the Raiders get 4. An injury to a Chiefs player forces the Chiefs to use a timeout. 41 seconds to go, 2^nd  and 6 Campbell gets the ball to Jacoby ford for 7. After a spike, the ball sits on the 41 yard line with 30 seconds to go. A big play to the 22 to Jacoby Ford but a holding call negates what could have been the changing play of the quarter. Veldheer. Idiot! Rookie. SO 1^st and 20 and Campbell rips the ball off from the defender who had a sure interception and a spike on the field with 7 seconds to go. This rookie gets my game ball! Here is Sea Bass……..and the tie!!!! The crowd goes nutts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chiefs win the coin toss with Seymour trying his best to get the flip to happen again. Good try my friend. Great try. Raiders get to hold the Chiefs first. This is where the defense makes their money. After the short bouncing kick that was mishandled, the Chiefs get the ball to start on their 10 yard line. A run gets them to the 16, with the Raiders punishing Jamal Charles. He earned every yard. 2^nd down and that play action out to the TE didn’t work this time, where Quienten Groves stayed home and forced a 3^rd. INCOMPLETE on 3^rd down and a 3 and out, the Raiders get the ball back! Great blind defense on Kameron Wimbley. A false start gets the Chiefs punting from their end zone line.

Raiders offense gets the ball on the 38 yard line. First down and an AMAZING THROW TO JACOBY FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a catch! To the 12!!!!!!!! After a first down run by Darren McFadden to get the ball in the middle of the field, SEA BASS pins the ball down the middle of the uprights for the WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EARNING THAT MONEY SEA BASS!!!!

3rd Quarter Chiefs @ Raiders In The Books.......

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Special Teams. Who would have knew? JACOBY FORD!!!!!!!!!!!! Need I say more. 94 yard return for a TD! This kid has some jets, doesn't he? This game just changed complexion in 10 seconds of the 2nd half.

Another special teams play on the very next kickoff. Huge hit to get the fumble by Hiram Eugene. Put the Raiders on the 35 yard line. After a 3 and out, the Raiders miss a field goal of 45 from Jano. Huge miss to get this game square. Points off turnovers are going to be a huge issue down the stretch if we don't get that cleaned up. 

Finally on defense, Chris Johnson lays some wood on Chris Chambers who held onto the ball. On 2nd down, an illegal hands to the face gives us 9 for the day, and a first down for the Chiefs. On the next set of downs, they go right back against Johnson who knocks the ball down out of Chambers hands. 2nd down and a bootleg gets a first down, but a 15 yard penalty for a horse collar gets the Chiefs to the 26. Penalty flag again on the Raiders gives the Chiefs a 1st and 5. What the hell is going on with this team? We are killing ourselves. Jamal Charles to the 5 on the left, tackled and hurt. Looks like the wind got knocked out of him. Should be back later in the game. 1st down and goal from the 6, a huge sack by Tommy Kelly! 2nd sack of the day, and Kelly absolutely dominated his blocker. Matt Shaunessy helped get that pressure on Cassel. Jamal Charles for 11 and he is hobbled walking off the field.  On 3rd and goal, another sack by Desmond Bryant sets up a 4th and goal of 25 yards and the Chiefs go ahead 13-7 with 9:41 to go.

The Chiefs second possession starts with a run for 6. Shaunessy gets Thomas Jones on the left side of the line for a short 2 yard gain on 2nd down. Third and 1 and the Chiefs try the play action with a deep out route to the TE, who was open, beat Mike Mitchell but the ball was over thrown and the Chiefs punt. Raiders ball on the 48 but a holding penalty on Thomas Howard takes us back to the 38 yard line.

Starting on the 18, the Chiefs get 6 by Terrence Copper gets them 2nd and 4. Another offside penalty gives the Chiefs a first down. That's 14 penalties today! Wow. I am just going to shut up about that now. 1st down and a quick pass to Jamal Charles for 7 down the left side line. 2nd down and Thomas Jones gets 6 for the first down. After a false start, the Chiefs get nearly 14 on 1st down to get to the 50. Thomas Jones gets to the 44 and that's the Quarter.

Offense

Our first offensive possession begins after a 26 yard return by Ford. A roll out by Campbell gets us to the 42, a 19 yard pickup to Jacoby Ford. Our first, first down since the 2nd quarter. Darren McFadden then runs wild and makes some defenders miss to pickup a good chunk of yards and open up that rushing defense. Raiders in the Red Zone, a quick pass to Johnnie Lee Higgins for 3 yards, gets him the 4th catch of his season. With new found momentum, the Raiders keep the drive going with an outlet pass to McFadden who runs over the Chiefs safety on the 2 and knocks him back into the end zone. What a power hit by Darren!!! 1st and goal, Michael Bush gets back to the line of scrimmage. 2nd and goal,  play action to the Tackle eligible and a TD to Kalif Barnes!!!! Raiders take the lead with the Jano extra point!

The Raiders open up with a great play action play for 13 to Brandon Meyers and are starting to move the ball with consistency! The next play and there was a huge hole that McFadden tried to get through, without any luck. 2nd down and 10, play action and Campbell held onto the ball too long and got sacked by Tamba Hali. 3rd and 15, and Campbell takes another sack of 2 yards. Can not believe Campbell didn't get rid of the ball after he got out of the tackle box. Campbell was hurt, but jogged off the field. The run game needs to be used more efficiently next possession.   

14-13 RAIDERS going into the 4th Quarter! Time to amp it up!!!
